New amendments to non-profit governance On May 11, a webinar was hosted with Miller Thomson LLP for all AFHTO members about recent changes to the Ontario Corporations Act (OCA). These amendments to the OCA bring flexibility to the Ontario non-profit governance rules. Slides and video are available here. And don’t forget we have even more in ‘Past Webinars’. Redefining Health Care: A Dialogue on Health Policy Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) has released the third issue of their policy journal, Redefining Health Care: A Dialogue on Health Policy. This issue focuses on transitions in care. Different perspectives, including those of patients and caregivers, are featured along with highlights of successful initiatives. One of these is Markham FHT’s Transitions program (pg. 22), launched in response to patient feedback about their hospital discharge experience. Read on here. |

Concussion handbook for patients and families Released by the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation, this new booklet is derived from the evidence-based standards of post-concussion care. You’re encouraged to share this handbook with your patients as it promotes informed direction for efficient navigation through the healthcare system. The handbook differs from concussion guidelines as it relates to helping someone through the journey of concussion as opposed to the actual practice of treating concussion.
