Ontario Community Health Compensation Market Salary Review report is here

Dear AFHTO Board Chairs, EDs/Admin Leads, and HR Managers,

We want to express our appreciation for your participation in today’s webinar, which provided an update on the findings from the Ontario Community Health Compensation Market Salary Review, developed by Eckler.

The webinar slides are attached (report findings and government relations). The recorded webinar will be circulated to members as soon as it is available. The webinar Qs and As will also be shared as soon as they are available.

During today’s webinar, we outlined the process undertaken to collect these data and develop this report, provided an overview of the data and findings, discussed how it will support HHR efforts in primary care, and how it will help shape our advocacy efforts moving forward.

We are providing you all with a copy of the Ontario Community Health Compensation Market Salary Review report, developed by Eckler. This comprehensive report offers invaluable insights into compensation trends in our sector. The Full Report, along with the Executive Summary, is attached.

We hope that this report serves as a useful resource for your own HHR planning efforts and advocacy within your organizations. We strongly encourage you to leverage the data it contains to bolster your workforce strategies.

One of AFHTO’s primary goals is to leverage these data to engage in productive conversations with government and to advocate for wage enhancements for the primary care sector. That is why we have included a document with key messages, questions and answers, and top facts to guide conversations with government officials. This Plain Language Summary and Key Messages document is attached.

An AFHTO Advocacy Plan Q and A document that addresses common questions about AFHTO’s advocacy/government relations approach is also attached for your reference.

As you read through and digest this report, please take some time to complete AFHTO’s member survey, which asks key questions about the usefulness of the report and additional knowledge translation/advocacy resources for our members: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J9Y7KFP. We ask that you complete this survey by November 30th, 2023. Using the responses to this survey, AFHTO will be prepping its own Q and A document for our members’ specific questions.

We will keep you updated on our progress as we continue to have these important conversations. Your involvement is essential in driving the change we envision for the community health sector.

We look forward to your continued support and collaboration.

Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to reach out to us at info@afhto.ca.

Warm regards,

In addition, please see below why we are taking a public approach to sharing this report:

  • One of our key priorities with this report is raising awareness with government about the wage gap and wage challenges in the community health sector.
  • To ensure this message reaches government we want to support all our community health partners to have productive and effective conversations with governments – providing this report transparently to the government, our stakeholders and leadership/staff is a key piece of this strategy.
  • We know that it will take collective advocacy and action to make change which is why we want to arm all our stakeholder partners with the information, data and messages they need to have productive conversations. This likely includes support from all association, organizational leadership, frontline staff, stakeholder partners, unions, the media and more.
