The AFHTO IHP Advisory Council met on September 7th, 2023. Below are highlights from the Fall 2023 Council meeting.
IHP Document – Strategic Direction
- AFHTO presented a new strategic direction for the IHP Guiding document which encompasses four main areas:
- Legal Scope of Practice: Ensuring clarity and compliance.
- Guidance on Roles: Providing valuable insights into various roles.
- Practical Implementation: Streamlining actionable steps.
- Resource Materials: Equipping you with essential tools.
- Eventually, the final version of this document will be hosted on the members-portion of the AFHTO website.
IHP New Roles Update – Ontario Kinesiologist Association (OKA)
- AFHTO has begun to collaborate with the Ontario Kinesiologist Association (OKA). A draft of the kinesiologist role has been developed for inclusion in the IHP document. This information has undergone internal and external reviews to ensure its accuracy.
- Pending approval from the council, the information provided by OKA will be integrated into the next revision cycle of the document.
Compensation Analysis
- Regarding the compensation analysis that has been in progress since spring, AFHTO submitted feedback to Eckler, and they are diligently working on a comprehensive compensation analysis. AFHTO reports that the survey response rate exceeded 40%, highlighting the commitment of our members.
- The results are expected to be available by the end of September, and there is hope they will not only provide insights into compensation, but also shed light on wage disparities between male and female employees. The report will be distributed to members as soon as the report is ready for release. A compensation section is being considered for inclusion in the IHP guidance document.
