Letter to Minister Jones on ensuring equitable access to team-based care
Last week together with OCFP and the Alliance for Healthier Communities we sent a letter to Minister Jones regarding the Expression of Interest (EOI) process for expansion of team-based care.
“Earlier this year, your government made an investment of $30 million to expand existing interprofessional primary care teams and/or create up to 18 new teams in communities with the greatest need. This investment is an important first step in improving patient care and access to primary care services while supporting primary care professionals, but our work cannot stop here.”
We had three recommendations based on feedback and advice from members:
- Implement a data-driven approach to expansion
- Leverage Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) to support regional planning
- Streamline the application process

The provinces are distributing the survey to key sub-populations in their jurisdictions. It aims to gain province-specific insights and inform the planning of PCC services. Seeking feedback on the Ontario Perinatal Record
Intended to guide clinicians in the provision of consistent, high-quality care throughout pregnancy and the early postpartum period, the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH) released the last version of the Ontario Perinatal Record (OPR) in 2017. This was done in partnership with Ontario’s Better Outcomes Registry and Network (BORN), the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), and the Association of Ontario Midwives (AOM).
PCMCH has now convened a Task Force to review and update the content of the OPR and accompanying User Guide in 2023/24, to reflect updated evidence and current best practices.
If you use the Ontario Perinatal Record, PCMH requests you complete their survey by September 14, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Brittany Groom, Senior Program Manager, at brittany.groom@pcmch.on.ca.
Seeking input on RN prescribing
Earlier this year, the College of Nurses of Ontario shared that the Ministry of Health is resuming its review of RN prescribing regulations they’d proposed. They’re reaching out to employers and employer associations in community and long-term care sectors to learn more about your perspectives related to RN prescribing. Read the full email here.
