Health Quality Ontario news Dr. Joshua Tepper to become President and CEO of North York General Hospital -he will officially begin his new role on Nov. 5. He is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Health Quality Ontario (HQO) and a family physician with Inner City FHT. Guidelines not enough to improve the health and healthcare of people with IDD Surrey Place’s Developmental Disabilities Primary Care Program published an update of the Canadian Consensus Guidelines on the Primary Care of Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Canadian Family Physician in April. But according to Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities (H-CARDD)’s research, uptake of the comprehensive health check for adults with IDD, one of the main recommendations in the guidelines, has been relatively low in Ontario. Challenges to improving care include the time needed to complete a comprehensive health check, communication problems, knowledge about IDD-specific health issues, and identifying patients with IDD. A free online special issue published by Canadian Family Physician provides many tips and tools to implement the primary care guidelines in clinical practice. |

Perceptions of mutual respect and collaboration in interprofessional teams- full dissertation “A significant positive relationship was found between mutual respect and collaboration… Correlation scores between mutual respect and collaboration were higher in FHTs compared to CHCs. Significant differences in scores were also demonstrated between nurses and non-nurses, and levels of education.” In April a Walden University doctoral student was seeking input for a research study on mutual respect and collaboration in interprofessional team settings. Along with a summary of results, Dr. Brenda Lankhof has now provided us with the full dissertation as well. |
