Immunization Reporting Requirements On Hold
On June 20, 2018 Premier-Designate Doug Ford notified OMA that implementation of changes to the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) and regulations have been paused. The new reporting requirements would have required family physicians to report immunizations provided to children for nine designated diseases to local public health units starting July 1, 2018.

Many providers had expressed concern about how these new reporting requirements would be implemented, and these concerns were shared with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) by several organizations.

Once a new minister responsible for health has been appointed on June 29, 2018, they will be tasked to work with the OMA to “prioritize an acceptable solution”. Read more here.

Check out the resources from our recent webinars:
“Employment Contracts: What Do You Need to Know?”
Employment contracts, if properly used, can protect organisations and save them tens of thousands of dollars, especially during a termination. The slide deck and recording from last week’s webinar on June 21 can be seen here.
“De-Mystifying Skills-Based Boards”
The slide deck and recording from yesterday’s webinar is here. As a skills-based approach to composing a board is a leading governance practice and now required of FHT boards, this webinar helped define what a skills-based board looks like and reviewed steps to get there.

After OHIP+ began on January 1, the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) and its member insurance companies implemented a transition period until June 30, 2018, assisting with coverage for some drugs that may otherwise be considered under the EAP, without requiring an EAP rejection letter. To avoid possible interruptions in your patients’ access to their medicines, please submit EAP requests prior to the July 1, 2018 deadline.
