Nominations open for awards recognizing excellence in interprofessional mental health care The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and Canadian Psychiatric Association (CPA)’s Collaborative Mental Health Care Awards recognize programs that improve access to effective mental health care, enhance mental health service delivery, and increase family physicians’ capacity to identify and meet the mental health care needs of their patients. Awards go to grassroots community programs as well as larger, institutionally-supported programs or services that involve interprofessional, team-based collaboration. Nominations must be submitted online using this form by 4:00 p.m. (ET) on Feb. 1, 2018. For more information, check out the CFPC Awards of Recognition web page and application requirements.

Congratulations once again to all our winners and nominees – your work is being recognized! EpiPen shortage alert: Pfizer has notified the Ministry that they are anticipating a backorder of EpiPen® 0.3mg auto-injectors until Feb. 28, 2018. This comes when there may be a potential increase in demand because of the launch of the OHIP+ program. Read more here. Situation report on opioid crisis: situation report #11 and #12 now available. OHIP+: Effective Jan. 1, 2018, Ontario is publicly funding select valved holding chambers (VHCs) through the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program. Health Quality Ontario news Report on workplace violence prevention in QIPs: Insights into Quality Improvement: Workplace Violence Prevention in the 2017/2018 Quality Improvement Plans is now available, with input from the hospital, primary care, home and community care, and long-term care sectors. ARTIC funding call coming soon: you may be familiar with ARTIC -funded projects such as Patient Oriented Discharge Summary (PODS) and memory clinics but soon your team will have the chance to apply as well. ARTIC will be looking for new projects to support in early 2018. Stay tuned for news about the call for proposals. |

Leave The Pack Behind’s Annual Wouldurather…Contest Leave The Pack Behind, a program funded by the Government of Ontario, is currently promoting its wouldurather… contest, proven to help 20% of contestants to quit smoking compared to the 5% who quit cold turkey. The contest challenges all Ontario young adults (ages 18–29) to quit, cut back, or stay smoke-free from commercial tobacco for a 6-week period from Jan. 29-Mar. 11, 2018, with $10,000 in cash prizes to be won. Eligible residents can enter at www.wouldurather.ca until Jan. 28, 2018.
