Webinar – BILL 148 – Major Changes to the Employment Standards Act

Join Maria McDonald of McDonald Health Law for a webinar on Tuesday, December 5th at 12:00 p.m. to learn more about the major changes to the Employment Standards Act and how it will impact your organization. CORRECTION in the WEBINAR: To be clear – the new Scheduling rules do not set a minimum number hours of work (3 hours specifically or any other number of hours) that employees must be scheduled. The ESA DOES NOT prevent employers from scheduling employees for LESS THAN 3 HOURS . As such, an employer can schedule someone for 2 hours work (or less). The scheduling rule in question – the 3 hour rule –  only applies if an employee regularly works more than 3 hours but attends at work and is sent home before they have worked for 3 hours.  In such a case, they have to be paid regular wages for at least 3 hours even though they worked less than 3 hours.  It does not apply if an employee is scheduled for less than 3 hours.
