Government & Legislation Updates

•  The Patients First Act has now been tabled in the legislature. Here’s what we understand so far. (member login required).

• Ontario Retirement Pension Plan Act: Last week the province passed this act. Learn what this means for you.

• Occupational Health & Safety Inspections: The Ministry of Labour’s Eastern Region (Champlain, South East & Central East LHINs) will be visiting FHTs and CHCs to inspect for compliance with the OHS legislation from now to end of March 2017. See the notice letter here.

• Innovation Brokers: wanted by the Office of the Chief Health Technology Strategist (OCHIS). Deadline June 27, 2016.

Funding Opportunity

•  Adopting Research to Improve Care (ARTIC) Program call for project funding: Health Quality Ontario (HQO) and the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario (CAHO) invite applications focused on projects to support the implementation and spread of evidence-based clinical interventions or practice changes at multiple sites across the province, with an emphasis on ensuring primary and community care are engaged. Letters of intent due by July 4.

Clinical Guidelines & Resources: Requests for input & updates shared

• Provider input needed on new mental health tool: primary care feedback sought by Centre for Effective Practice (CEP)

• CEP seeking Clinical Leads to help develop a series of clinical tools, sign up or learn more here.

• Dementia Care in the Community: HQO is seeking volunteers for this Quality Standard Advisory Committee. Deadline June 20, 2016.

• Skin Testing for Allergic Rhinitis: Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee’s final recommendation based on HQO’s findings.

• Epilepsy care and management guidelines: released by Critical Care Services Ontario.

• Video tutorial for completing Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) developed by Hamilton FHT. Resource to share with patients who have questions.
