The webinar took place on Tuesday, January 30th from 12:00-1:00pm presented by Dr. Ruth Dubin, co-chair of ECHO Pain and Rhonda Mostyn, Project Manager ECHO at UHN. The webinar was recorded and can be viewed here. The slides from the presentation can be accessed here. What is ECHO? ECHO (Extensions for Healthcare Outcomes) is a model of education and care management that empowers primary care providers to better care for more people within their own communities. ECHO chronic pain/opioids was launched in 2014 to help address the opioid crisis in Ontario and the limited training and support for chronic pain management available for primary care providers. AFHTO Opioid resources. ECHO Videoconference Sessions ECHO links primary care providers from across the province with each other and with a specialist team during weekly videoconference sessions. The 2 hour interactive sessions are CME accredited and include a short didactic followed by de-identified case presentations by ECHO participants. Case presenters are provided with a list of recommendations and all participants gain from case discussions and shared knowledge. ECHO sessions may be attended by any member of the inter-professional team including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Pharmacists. There is no fee to register. All primary care providers from your team, and across the province, are invited to register. ECHO sessions are just one of many resources available to help teams manage pain and addictions and, in the process, improve opioid prescribing. One example is a series of EMR tools built by AFHTO members for AFHTO members and any other EMR user across Ontario. These tools will help you track impact of your efforts on opioid prescribing patterns. See attached for more information.
