AFHTO 2024 pre-budget submission

On January 30th, 2024, AFHTO submitted our recommendations to the government for their 2024 budget.

AFHTO’s five recommendations:

  1. Further invest in the expansion of interprofessional primary care teams in Ontario.
  2. Address the health human resource (HHR) crisis in primary and community care through the investment of $500M annually in the community sector over the next five years.
  3. Support the implementation of primary care networks.
  4. Invest in the digital health of primary care.
  5. Embed and connect mental health and addictions services in primary care teams.

Expression of Interest: Regional Primary Care Clinical Lead

Ontario Health is seeking expressions of interest from primary care physicians or nurse practitioners for the position of Regional Primary Care Clinical Lead. “This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with regional stakeholders and provide clinical leadership for the evolution of primary care in Ontario. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Clinical Programs for the respective OH Region, with indirect reporting and accountability to the Provincial Clinical Advisor, Primary Care, this role plays an instrumental role in shaping regional primary care delivery systems and implementing regional initiatives aligned to provincial priorities.” Expressions of interest should be submitted via email to PrimaryCareProgram@ontariohealth.ca no later than 11:59 PM on February 10, 2024.

New resources from the Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health

In 2019, the Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health released clinical practice guidelines on Alcohol Use Disorder and Cannabis Use Disorder Among Older Adults. Since then, we have created new resources to complement the guidelines:
