This communique is based off of the Ontario Extends Support for Employers and Employees Impacted by COVID-19″ News Release from the Government of Ontario, shared on September 3, 2020.

Communique includes information on:

  1. Extended suspension of the temporary lay-off provisions under the Ontario Employment Standards Act (“ESA”) – September 4, 2020 now changed to January 2, 2021!
  2. Infectious Disease Emergency Leave (“IDEL”) and parent’s decision to keep children home from school. IDEL is unpaid, job protected leave available to employees under the ESA for a variety of COVID related reasons.
