This communique is based off of the “Ontario Extends Support for Employers and Employees Impacted by COVID-19″ News Release from the Government of Ontario, shared on September 3, 2020.
Communique includes information on:
- Extended suspension of the temporary lay-off provisions under the Ontario Employment Standards Act (“ESA”) – September 4, 2020 now changed to January 2, 2021!
- Infectious Disease Emergency Leave (“IDEL”) and parent’s decision to keep children home from school. IDEL is unpaid, job protected leave available to employees under the ESA for a variety of COVID related reasons.
