| IHP Advisory Council call for applications At the last meeting of AFHTO’s Board of Directors, the establishment of an Interprofessional Health Care Providers (IHP) Advisory Council was approved. The current Communities of Practice (CoP) representing 13 different professions will dissolve and interprofessional health care providers will be represented by a new IHP Advisory Council.The application deadline is Friday, April 27, and all IHPs are welcome to apply. All information was sent to the IHP leads last week and, where applicable, posted in profession specific yahoo groups. The Terms of Reference are here. | Health & Safety: Get your workplace ready The Ministry of Labour began its 2018-19 inspection blitzes and initiatives on April 1. For healthcare organizations, they’re focusing on workplace violence prevention. They’ll be offering compliance support and education until March 31, 2019, and the enforcement campaign (inspection blitz) begins on July 1. A year-long enforcement campaign focusing on Healthcare High Hazards began April 1. Cross-sectoral enforcement campaigns that may be relevant to your team include chemical handling, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) compliance, and ergonomics related to falls. |

Categories are ‘Seven Enablers for a Quality Health System’. Deadline to submit a poster or oral presentation abstract is April 24, 2018. University of Toronto Chapter Institute for Healthcare Improvement: annual Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Conference will be held June 8 and 9, 2018. Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care news EpiPen shortage alert: Pfizer has notified the Ministry that EpiPen 0.3 mg is currently in shortage and that EpiPen Jr (0.15 mg) is expected to be in shortage as of April 13, 2018. Read more here.
