The Emerging Role of Social Work in Primary Health Care: Study
“Greater emphasis on social determinants of health, health promotion, and other transformative issues (Ashcroft, 2010, 2014; Payne, 2014) will better help address PHC’s focus of health equity (Starfield & Shi, 2007) and further align practice with social work’s grand challenge that aims to close the health gap (Walters et al., 2016).”Results from an exploratory study on barriers and facilitators to social workers’ integration in FHTs by researchers from various universities and The Centre for Family Medicine FHT has been published. Seeking physician input on implementation of dietary guidelines for patients with hypertension

Specifically, the researchers from University of Ontario Institute of Technology are interested in examining diet and hypertension management. The survey takes 8-9 minutes to complete and there will be a prize draw for three Apple iPads.

‘Osteoporosis: What is Your Patient’s Fracture Risk?’ – a free, online course

Despite the knowledge that prior fractures are predictors of future fractures, fewer than 20% of women and less than 10% of men receive preventative treatment. To help health professionals gain an increased familiarity with preventative management and diagnostic techniques of osteoporosis, McMaster University together with the Ontario College of Family Physicians, Osteoporosis Canada, and other osteoporosis experts across Canada have developed a free, online, certified course.
